James Francis Cagney was an outstanding actor and probably one of the greatest artists in the world. He had such charisma, flare and energy about him and he could capture the whole audience with his talent. As a young boy he had numerous jobs and he was known for his occasional fights while growing up. He started off appearing in plays that eventually took his career to great heights. At the peak of his carer he was Hollywood's most sought after actor but he still remained a private man off screen spending most of his leisure time with his wife. He achieved so much in his lifetime, owning his own film company and he served a double term as president of the SAG from 1942-1944. In 1974 he became the 1st actor to receive the life achievement award of the American Film Institute. Sadly James Cagney passed away in his family home in Stanfordville in 1986.James will always be my hero and he will remain Americas finest artist. |
